Quickstart

From an empty project to published content and live analytics on your site.

Manifolio keeps a site's content and its live numbers in one place. This page takes you from an empty project to published content on your site, with analytics running.

1. Model your content

In the admin at app.manifolio.com, open your project and go to Structure. Add a type and pick its fields. A collection holds many entries (articles, products, events); a singleton holds exactly one (site settings, the home page).

Mark the fields that are required and the ones that change per language. The content model page lists every field type.

2. Write and publish

Open the type, add an entry and press Publish. Only published content reaches the Delivery API. Drafts stay in the admin and in the Preview API, so editors can keep working without touching the live site.

3. Create a key

In Developers → API keys, create a secret key. Production keys start with mf_live_, development keys with mf_test_. The full key is shown once: copy it into your server environment. The project id is under Connection on the same page.

Shell
# .env
MANIFOLIO_PROJECT=01a1b2c3-0000-7000-8000-000000000000
MANIFOLIO_KEY=mf_live_your_secret_key

Secret keys stay on the server. Read content at build time, in a server component or in an API route, never in the browser.

4. Read content

Shell
npm i @manifolio/sdk
TypeScript
import { createClient } from "@manifolio/sdk";

const cms = createClient({
  project: process.env.MANIFOLIO_PROJECT!,
  key: process.env.MANIFOLIO_KEY!,
  locale: "en",
});

const articles = await cms.entries("article", { sort: "-published", limit: 10 });
const settings = await cms.singleton("site_settings");

Without the SDK it is a single HTTP request:

Shell
curl -H "Authorization: Bearer $MANIFOLIO_KEY" \
  "https://api.manifolio.com/delivery/v1/$MANIFOLIO_PROJECT/entries/article?limit=10"

5. Turn on analytics

Create a publishable key (mf_pk_live_) and list the domains of your site. Then add one line to every page:

HTML
<script defer src="https://api.manifolio.com/t.js" data-key="mf_pk_live_your_site_key"></script>

Visits, sources and Web Vitals appear on the dashboard within minutes. The script sets no cookies and Manifolio stores no IP addresses. See Analytics for custom events.

Where to go next

  • Delivery API: every endpoint, filter and parameter
  • SDK: typed reads, preview and generated types
  • Webhooks: rebuild or revalidate when something is published
