Move content into Manifolio from a spreadsheet, a WordPress site, Webflow or any JSON. Open Import from Structure or from the list of a content type.

Sources

SourceWhat you uploadWhat you get
CSVAny export with a header row. Comma, semicolon, tab or pipe, UTF-8 (with or without BOM) or Windows-1252, quoted cells with line breaksOne set of rows
WordPressTools → Export, the .xml file (WXR)Posts, pages, categories, tags and authors, with featured images and their alt text
WebflowThe CSV export of a CMS collectionRows with rich text as HTML and image URLs from the Webflow CDN
JSONAn array of objects, or an object with one array in itOne set of rows

The source is recognized from the content, not the file name. Files can be up to 50 MB.

The steps

  1. File. Upload it. If the guess is wrong, pick another source or separator.
  2. Target. Choose a content type, or let Manifolio propose a new one from the columns (field types are inferred: numbers, yes/no, dates, links, emails, image URLs, HTML).
  3. Fields. Match each column to a field. Each field type has its converter:
    • numbers accept 1.234,56, 1,234.56, € 90
    • dates detect the column format (2025-10-15, 15.10.2025, 10/15/2025, Wed, 15 Oct 2025); when day and month could swap, you pick
    • references find entries by title or slug, so import categories before posts
    • HTML becomes rich text: headings, lists, links, quotes, code and images stay; scripts, styles, iframes and unknown tags are dropped
    • image URLs are downloaded into the media library, once per URL
  4. Check. A dry run of the first 10 rows, with every problem per row. Nothing is saved.
  5. Import. Runs in the background with live progress. You can close the page.

Imported entries are drafts. Turn on Publish entries that are ready to publish the ones with every required field filled.

Updating instead of duplicating

Pick a key column (a source id, an SKU or the slug). Importing the same file again updates the entries made from those rows instead of adding new ones. Only the matched fields change, and for translated fields only the language you import.

The report

Rows with problems are skipped. The report lists the row, the field and the reason, and Download report (CSV) gives you those rows with their original values, ready to fix and import again. Notes such as an image that could not be downloaded do not stop the row.

Images

Images are fetched by the server over http or https, from public addresses only, up to 25 MB each, and checked like any upload (the file type comes from the bytes). The alt text comes from WordPress (the attachment's alt or title) or from a column you choose.
